Carroll High School competed at the state Mock Trial tournament Monday and Tuesday, March 27th-28th in Des Moines at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium Events Center. There were 32 teams in the state tournament from all across Iowa, from all school sizes and divisions, with each team made up of 8 – 10 students from grades 9-12.
Carroll’s Mock Trial team competed in three rounds which included teams from Ankeny and Des Moines Hoover. The team lost the three rounds by narrow margins.
Honorable mention All State honors went to Adrienne Wiley with three nominations for outstanding attorney. Sydney Bellinghausen and Daniel Harrison also received a nomination for outstanding attorney. Maia Boell earned two nominations as an outstanding witness and Ava Blackwill was also nominated in this category. Other Carroll varsity team members include Nike Lin, Lilly Campbell, Rachel Mead, Chase Madden, Lincoln Neu, and Katelyn McFarland. Carroll High School Mock Trial is coached by Jeff Hughes and assisted by Eric Neu.
